About Us

i-Collect - a winning concept that helps to address poverty and unemployment through an entrepreneurially focused initiative. Imagine a business concept that allows participants to raise funds to drive their sustainability and the work they do for their constituents and community outreach programmes, benefits the environment, empowers human possibility by creating entrepreneurial businesses for marginalised South Africans and contributes to the support of cancer patients and their families through CANSA. i-Collect does all that!

The i-Collect concept
Clothing and textiles are almost 100 percent recyclable. i-Collect Textile Recycling was established with the sole focus of recycling large volumes of clothing and textiles. Many items of clothing and textiles that people discard on a daily basis or no longer have a use for are still in good condition and perfectly useable. Clothes and textiles that cannot be used for resale into the second hand clothing market, or which are considered inferior quality, are used as rags or shredded for the industrial sector.

You gather donations, we collect and pay
Our business concept makes it simple for schools, community organisations and public benefit organisations to participate and raise much needed funding by collecting donated clothing and textile goods. A collection bag is supplied by i-Collect – or you can arrange for a collection bin to be placed on a permanent basis – and is to be filled with good quality used clothing or textiles. i-Collect handles the collection and weighing of all items and your organisation earns money, per kilogram, for the items collected. Fundraising Through i-Collect, fundraising for your school, church or public benefit organisation is made so much easier through the collection of good quality used clothing and textiles. If you’re a business or corporate, encourage staff to participate and contribute their used clothing, and donate the proceeds to your chosen charity partner.

We make it simple Schools, churches and PBOs
  • We will pay your organisation per kilogram of clothing collected.
  • We supply prepared collection bags and tracking paperwork and we drop off and collect the bags – so its 100% hassle-free for you. Each bag contains a pamphlet explaining the fund raising initiative.
  • Each person who chooses to collect items will be issued with a uniquely numbered collection bag – this is particularly useful to track the bags.
  • Each person fills the bag with any good quality clothes, shoes, linen, bags, leather goods, belts or toys that they are willing to donate or collect.
  • The items are sorted and sold onto small businesses in the communities all over the country, creating jobs and access to affordable good quality clothes.
  • Notify us when the bags are ready and i-Collect will arrange for collection at the agreed collection site – for example your school, church, business, head office and so on.
  • The bags are weighed on site and we provide you or a designated person in charge of the collection efforts with a signed off control sheet of the weight of all bags collected.
  • We pay the funds directly into your bank account.

Prefer a branded collection bin in a designated area? Many organisations prefer the option of a branded collection bin placed in a designated area. i-Collect will arrange this for you upon request.
  • It’s the same successful system used for our bag collections, except it’s cleaner, neater and with a real financial benefit to your organisation. All our bins are branded, attractive and maintained by i-Collect.
  • We supply one of our attractive collection bins to be placed in a designated, safe position, providing easy access for people to deposit their used clothing and textiles.
  • i-Collect takes full responsibility for every collection bin including any weather damage and maintaining its general condition and appearance.
  • i-Collect delivers and collects the bin at no cost to you.
  • i-Collect supplies posters and pamphlets to explain the concept to interested participants and how they can get involved.
